Attack-Sub is the fourth stage of Sparkster (SNES).

Description[]

Sparkster boards a Wolf Army's Blue September submarine, where Colonel Wolfheim awaits him for a rematch. This sub is full of mechanical traps, Wolf sailors and, ironically enough, water.

Details[]

This stage follows a linear path to the end. Sparkster falls into the sub and slides down a rail as eel robots lunge at him. A large one is piloted by a Wolf firing torpedoes. Once it is destroyed, the floor opens up and Sparkster finds himself in a long corridor with laser beams periodically filling the space- he must hide in the floor to avoid them, then destroy the laser cannons.

After that, he stumbles into the Wolf Army barracks- and they’re not pleased about being woken up. A pressurised tube at the end takes Sparkster to a corridor where the ceiling is lined with spikes, which leaks in the hull will propel him into if he is not careful. The corridor above is full of steam pumps, operated by wolves, which periodically spray hot steam down on the rocket knight. Dropping down a shaft at the end brings Sparkster to the most dangerous part of the stage- the hull bursts and water rushes in. Sparkster has to quickly rush through four stacked halls before water fills them up and instantly drowns him. In a small room above these halls, a robot fish out of water can be found, though it does nothing but offer an apple when attacked.

Sparkster should now climb out of the sub and cross the hull as planes bombard him. The sub appears to lift out of the water as Wolfheim greets the rocket knight in a tower of guns. Destroying these guns reveals the tower to be a disguised robot suit that flails around with spiked arms. After sustaining critical damage, the robot is destroyed and Wolfheim disappears, leaving behind only his cap.
