Generalissimo Lioness (ライオネス総統 Raionesu Sōtō) is the leader of the Wolf Army. He's the main antagonist in Sparkster (SNES).
Appearance[]
Generalissimo Lioness is a large male lion, although the term “lioness” usually refers to a female lion. He wears dark grey plated armour, two different-coloured gauntlets, spiked shoulderpads and an angular gold crown. His left eye is bionic. Upon being defeated by Sparkster, his face is revealed to be entirely mechanical, suggesting he was a robot in disguise, much like Emperor Devligus Devotindos.
Abilities[]
Lioness moves extremely slowly in battle, but makes up for it with his dangerous magic attacks. He can breathe fire, summon columns of lightning that slowly close in on Sparkster, and create two rebounding projectiles which become faster over time.
Personality[]
Not much is revealed of Lioness’ personality, but he appears very fierce in battle. He seems to be fully committed to his goal of destruction, as he uses his last breath to activate the warhead that he planned to destroy Eginasem with.
History[]
Generalissimo Lioness is the leader of the Wolf Army, although he is not a wolf. The revelation that he is a robot suggests he was built for this purpose, but it is not stated who was responsible for his creation.
During the events of Sparkster, he led a coup d’état in the Kingdom of Eginasem. He deployed thousands of wolf soldiers to attack the castle, led by his right-hand man Colonel Wolfheim, and enlisted the services of rogue Rocket Knight Axel Gear to abduct Princess Flora, whom he knew possessed the King’s pendant. Lioness’ plan was to use the pendant to power a warhead that would destroy the kingdom of Eginasem, allowing the Wolves to rule.
While preparing his Warhead aboard his space station, Sparkster the Rocket Knight appeared to challenge him. Lioness was defeated by Sparkster and mortally wounded, but used his remaining energy to take Princess Flora’s pendant and charge the warhead before collapsing. His actions would prove to be in vain, as Sparkster would destroy the warhead himself. With the demise of Lioness came the downfall of the Wolf Army.
Game Appearances[]
- Sparkster (SNES) (1994)
Trivia[]
- If the game is played on normal difficulty, level 9 does not occur. Therefore, Lioness will collapse without using the pendant.
- Lioness’ role is very similar to Emperor Devotindos’ in Rocket Knight Adventures.
