Rocket Knight Wiki

Iron Works is the second stage of Sparkster (SNES).

Description[]

This level is set in a large factory that appears to be operated by the Wolf Army. Heavy machinery is abound here, including welding torches, conveyor belts, industrial presses, motorized winches and all manner of dangerous things. Wolves here are equipped with flamethrowers to roast Sparkster from a distance.

Details[]

This complex stage is the largest level in the game, with many pathways to the end. In the first area Sparkster climbs along many rails and rides moving platforms on belts. The most prominent enemy here are small flying machines that home in on him. Breaking through a girder at the start leads to the shorter lower path, where Sparkster must avoid of fire pits below and welding torches. The upper path features many jewels to collect, but more flying machines. Sparkster soon has to board an elevator where a machine fires projectiles at him. He cannot disembark the elevator before it is destroyed.

From here on out the primary obstacles are conveyor belts. Sparkster may fly to the top of the level to avoid them, but then he will have to time his approach through corridors of industrial presses. At the end of many conveyor belts are rollers which crush sparkster if he walks into them from the side, but can be jumped on top of to progress. Next, Sparkster passes by a curious machine that paints him red, which he can wash off by walking behind large white screens. Above this area one of the rare Mysterious 1UPs can be found. After that he has to climb some more belts, then drop down a shaft to face the boss.

The boss is a strange machine that picks junk off a conveyor belt to use as makeshift weaponry. It may pick up missiles, a laser gun that targets Sparkster, or a spiked bar that it flails around to hit him. To destroy the machine, simply aim for its core.
