      She meant stage.

    • Typo error XD. I mean stage.

        Loading editor
    • Well, the enemies themselves are already listed in the Rocket Knight Adventures Article for the game itself, which was done by Magma MK-II if I remember correctly.

However, we have articles that are associated with all stages of all games, so if you'd like to add which enemy type is appearing in the stages themselves, then yes, go on ahead! You can easily find the stage articles by using the navigation part for "Games", and click on Rocket Knight Adventures. Stages are listed directly at Contents. :)

  • I hope I'm not disturbing you, but I've found this Twitter post showing concept art of Sparkster/Blaster that I've uploaded to the wiki. I also realized that the user who posted this, is the artist who worked on various Konami covers, including Rocket Knight.

Maybe if you can contact him through Twitter, can you ask him if these are the concept art he worked on as well?

    • Hey there, Digi!

Geez! This is an amazing find right there! I'm quite surprised that duBois has a Twitter Account, because some Artists sadly don't have one (like the Artist behind the Rocket Knight Fleetway Comics).

I will most certainly try to contact Mr. duBois on Twitter. I hope he's accepting Direct Messages, and if he's willing to confirm that he was the Artist behind the Rocket Knight works.

  • I was reading a trivia section from the Pac-Man World 3 page on the Pac-Man Wiki mentioning that it's original name was "The Elixir of Life" as it links the reference from the Justia Trademarks.

I was wondering if the Rocket Knight series had anything like this, so I searched through Justia and found these:

    https://trademarks.justia.com/743/55/rocketknight-74355142.html

    https://trademarks.justia.com/743/55/sparkster-the-rocketknight-74355145.html

    • Surprisingly, I was going through the search and found even more registrations in terms of Rocket Knight, and everything is stating that it was "Abandoned". However, it only dates back to around 2001-2002, and the IP was used back in 2010, which hasn't been showing up on Justia at all.

Sadly though, I have absolutely no idea how Trademarks etc. work. I've once tried to get myself more into this topic, but it was just too complex. And I don't know anyone who might be able to help out there.

Interesting find though! Maybe it can come in handy once we understand more about the Trademark issue in terms of Rocket Knight/Sparkster.

      Edit:

Seems like the last time the Trademark for Rocket Knight/Sparkster/Sparkster the Rocketknight has been renewed in 2005. Since then there have been no recordings of an Trademark renewal application. Not even back in 2010. As much as I understood Trademarks need to be renewed every 3rd year, while Copyrights can run from 70 to 95 or even 120 years. So this means that, even though Konami was releasing a new game in 2010, the Trademark itself has been abandoned since 2005 and hasn't been renewed since. That's quite odd.

        Loading editor
    • I've took a look through all of it, and yes, they have renewed the Trademark on June 3, 2016, and it will expire in 10 years (June 3, 2026). This is... interesting. Well, they probably just did it so the name Rocket Knight in itself can't be used as another Trademark, as it's their IP since 1992-1993 (whenever they started to work on the first game).

We shouldn't think too hard about it. At least they're not that neglecting. However, it was 3 years ago, and 6 years after the release of Rocket Knight. Maybe they just forgot to renew it, or the 10 year Trademark Protection was coming to an end in Japan. I'm not sure. I'm not a lawyer or anything, I'm just guessing around. Just because I've read a few things in terms of how Trademarks and Registrations work doesn't mean I know everything, so don't take anything I say as a fact.

All I can think about is that there's a slight chance that they might release some sort of Rocket Knight Collection for Steam and Consoles. Anything's possible at this point.

  • I've found this on Twitter, it's the congratulation screen, but I notice something in it... Did they just used Elhorn in Japanese by mistake?

      Loading editor
    • I'm not exactly sure about the Elhorn/Erewhon situation. "Erewhon" (anagram for "Nowhere") was a novel written by Samuel Butler back in 1872, which is also known as "Erewhon: or Over The Range".

Tomm Hulett and his team tried their best to track down most of the Japanese information during their production of Rocket Knight back in 2009-2010, but in the end they stood with Elhorn as it seemed the most logical, easier to memorize, or because it is mostly known as Elhorn for us.

What I can think of are:

      1) They were forced to change it from "Erewhon" to "Elhorn" due to copyright issues (again, because of the Novel "Erewhon" by Samuel Butler)

      OR

      2) The localisation team accidently translated "Elhorn" as "Erewhon"

In Japanese it is written as エレホーン (erehōn), so there can be many ways to translate it. Erehorn, Elhorn, Erewhon, Elwhon... and so on.

I sadly can't tell you which translation is fully correct, but to me it always sounded like Elhorn or Erehorn whenever I tried to spell it out loudly. Elhorn has been used since the Sequel of 1994, so to me it seems like Elhorn is the correct translation. With the release of the 2010 title it was pretty much confirmed that Elhorn is the name of the game's world.

I hope I could help you out with my answer. :)

    • Thank you kindly for the info, by the way, this may sound off-topic but I found a Sparkster reference in some Sonic the Hedgehog book through Tumblr. Don't know which book though.

    • It looks like a videogame magazine. Sadly I can't tell which one it is, either, or of which year. Sonic and the Black Knight came out around 2008-2009, and it seems like it's a Sonic-related magazine? I'm really not sure, but it's an amusing find indeed!

Thanks for sharing this one. :)

  • Sup, how's it been?

Do you know if the enemies on the games have official names? I checked the manuals, and only a few badguys on the first game are named there.

    • Yes. The installation folder contains a lot of .snd files, one for each enemy/boss.

I'll see if it's possible to rip this game's assets as well.

        Loading editor
    • So there's actually a chance that we can get some names for the enemies/bosses? At least so we can provide the necessary articles for each enemy/boss that is covered for Rocket Knight Adventures for now.

    • You can actually find the lyrics (the Japanese ones) within the Beep! MegaDrive Magazine from October 1993, issue #49 Page 32.

But neat find. It's a small song but pretty funny.

  • Some people call the swords that appeared in RKA2 as "Golden Swords" but TV Tropes and some people refer it as "Holy Swords".

In the U.S RKA2 manual, it is named "Key to the Seals" but what about the Japanese manual? Does it actually refer those as "Holy Swords"?

I'm still working on the translation for the Japanese Sparkster: Rocket Knight Adventures 2 Manual in regards to the Story and those 7 swords.

  • I just can't wait to help out the page format for the character descriptions so you can add the translated info of them.

      Loading editor
    • Thanks, but if you are doing all the formatting for the pages then I will never learn how to edit / add things by my own, so slow down a bit, will you? XD

Sorry about that, it's just that I'm the only user in this place since there isn't any active users in this wiki.

    • Well I'm also here now. Rushing things won't help us at all, either. I mean, we want to be a reliable source for those that want to know more about the Franchise in itself, the Characters and the lore. The faster we work, the more things we might miss out if something new pops up regarding the Franchise, causing us to have even more editing work to do later.

But since we're able to talk here on the Wiki Site I think we could discuss about further details. Like how we want to work on the Wikipedia site more effectively.
