Stampey-Do! is the third stage of Sparkster (SNES).

Description[]

Sparkster meets the mechanical bird Stampey-Do in a forest, who invites him for a ride. Throughout the stage Stampey-Do and its friends ferry Sparkster across the mountains while fending off attacking Wolf Army forces.

Details[]

The stage opens in a forest with Sparkster jumping onto Stampey-Do, who sets off at high speed. This stage consists entirely of shooting down Wolf Soldiers. Stampey-Do can maneuver around the screen and shoot ring lasers, while Sparkster can briefly jump out to attack in midair.

Fairly quickly the duo leave the forest and ascend into the mountains. About half-way through the stage Stampey-Do will slow down to let Sparkster leap out and continue with one of its friends. The player has a choice here- if they do nothing, Sparkster will fall down and take a slower route, but if they rocket jump across the chasm, they can skip this route entirely. Either way, the player will then have to fight Colonel Wolfheim, who throws bombs from a green robot suit.

Sparkster is then tossed between a series of Stampey-Dos, where he must avoid spiked balls dropping from above. On the last Stampey-Do, a bridge will begin collapsing beneath the duo, the player must hug the right side of the screen to avoid falling. After that the stage boss appears: the Crazy Caterpillar. It crawls along vines on the ceiling dropping bombs and shooting flames. Sparkster must attack its body segments, which then fall off and bounce around the ground briefly. After sustaining enough damage, the Caterpillar begins hopping around in front of the duo, spewing flames. It is ultimately destroyed and Stampey-Do flings Sparkster away to continue his adventure.
